As technology continues to advance and change, the industry must learn to shift and adapt to compete in today’s business environment. Taking advantage of technological advancements not only helps to streamline your company’s overall operations but helps to make your business more efficient and productive in the long run.

OTC was quick to align with the advanced-technology movement, arming our inspectors and auditors with an integrated tablet-based inspection and analysis database tool designed to support conducting and documenting inspections of drilling and production operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

OTCap, which stands for Compliance Assessment Protocol, walks OTC auditors through the inspection process by providing them a step-by-step checklist of items that need to be observed. The database includes all PINC’s, CFR’s and API regulations as well as a helpful tools section that contains common acronyms, oil and gas unit conversion charts, block maps and more.

OTCap enhances standard compliance inspections and other regulatory services by offering:

  • An inspection protocol checklist for all PINC’s that is linked to the supporting CFR and/or any other applicable regulatory policy inspections such as abandonment, drilling, production, well workover, BOP testing, SEMS, etc.
  • A Class I, Div 2-certified system capable of capturing visual images and inserting annotations on the daily report in real time to support inspection findings and observations
  • Offline working capabilities
  • Access to OTC’s client history database which stores operator, location, rig and inspection type to ensure any items previously addressed during an inspection have been addressed and reviewed

The OTCap system provides a detailed inspection template for conducting internal inspections which offers documenting, tracking and analyzing of inspection findings over a period of time to identify deficiency trends and gaps. These findings can then be addressed by operators and contractors through training and communication, providing added value to our customers.

The integration of advanced tools like OTCap into conventional industry procedures can help to improve the overall efficiency and accuracy of your company’s regulatory compliance and safety measurements, thus ensuring that your company is not only adhering to all current federal compliance regulations but that your crew is competent and possesses the skills and regulatory knowledge to operate safely.
